MAKScientific is seeking a strategic partner to further develop and commercialize its proprietary endocannabinoid CB1 receptor antagonists therapeutics for the treatment of obesity. MAKScientific has developed a library of novel, synthetic CB1 antagonists that are highly selective and have a superior pharmacological profile. MAKScientific expects its CB1 antagonists to result in products that are more efficacious with fewer side effects than products now in development. MAKScientific’s two lead compounds are in pre-clinical studies, and have demonstrated safety and efficacy in obesity models. There is a potential upside for use of MAKScientific’s compounds in the treatment of type II diabetes and dyslipidemia.
The partner, who will complete the pre-clinical development and be responsible for the clinical and regulatory activities necessary to obtain marketing approval for an obesity indication, will have access to MAKScientific’s library of CB1 antagonists, related data and patent rights. Further, the partner will have access to MAKScientific’s expertise in synthesis, medicinal chemistry, screening, pharmacological testing and molecular modeling, all supported by the Company’s proprietary knowledge of the human endocannabinoid system.
